Virtual State of the College Session With President John E. Jones III ’77, P’11
Dickinson alumni are invited to join President John E. Jones ’77, P’11, for a virtual State of the College address. President Jones will share updates on the student experience, new academic initiatives–and other exciting developments on campus and how alumni can help move Dickinson forward.

The class of 1976 will gather for a casual dinner at the College Farm followed by a short tour.
Explore The Bower: A Native Plant Landscape and Sculpture Park by Jane ’73 & Bill ’75 Allis
Join alumni for a guided tour to learn about the creation of this dream project developed during the Allis' early years of retirement. The Bower, a sanctuary where art and nature intertwine, is located on a 36-acre meadow and woodland site on the north slope of the Appalachian Mountains in Perry County, Pennsylvania (30 minutes north of Carlisle). The Allises are celebrating the 50th year of homesteading of property, This is the sixth year that The Bower has served as a public garden and rural nature preserve, featuring woodlands, a naturalized meadow landscape, native plant gardens, and large-scale commissioned sculptures and land art. There is no fee for this event, but space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Please indicate if you will be driving on your own or if you would like college-provided transportation. A noon return to campus is expected.
Alumni Academy: Into the Carlisle Vortex: Indigenous Living Histories, Storytelling & Responsibility
Course led by Amanda Cheromiah, Ph.D. (Laguna Pueblo), Director, Jim Thorpe Center for the Futures of Native Peoples
Participants will engage with the living histories and stories connected to the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, located about a mile from Dickinson College. This experience offers an opportunity to learn about another side of Carlisle through the lens of Indigenous perspectives. Through discussion, a downtown walk to examine Native-inspired imagery, and a visit to the Cumberland County Historical Society, participants will develop a deeper understanding of storytelling as a powerful tool for identity, community, and endurance.
Preregistration is required. Space is limited (20 people). Lunch is included.

Paint the Town with Dickinson
Let your inner artist come out! A professional artist will guide the group through creating a Dickinson-themed painting from start to finish. Whether you are a 21st-century Monet or have never picked up a brush, fun will be had by all. Painting supplies will be provided.
Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln
Matthew Pinsker, Pohanka Chair in American Civil War History and director of the House Divided Project at Dickinson, will lead a discussion around his new book, Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln. This groundbreaking history draws extensively on Lincoln’s private correspondence to move beyond the marble icon and realize a flesh-and-blood character. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Continuing the Dickinson Tradition: Why Liberal Arts, Why Dickinson
Designed for families with rising seniors, juniors and sophomores, this session explores the value of a liberal arts education and what makes Dickinson distinctive today. Learn how Dickinson continues to build on its traditions while preparing students for a rapidly changing world.

America's 250 - Music of the Revolution
This program is based on decades of research and performance, focusing on telling the story of the American Revolution through song, instrumental marches and dances, and spoken introductions [in addition to the detailed printed program]. Using period instruments and costume, David '79 and Ginger '83 Hildebrand take a social/historical approach, to tie together the events, issues and people of differing social classes and ethnicities, based upon primary source documents for both lyrics and tunes.

5K Fun Run/Walk
Join Don Nichter, cross country and track and field coach, for a 5K run or walk from campus to Dickinson Park and back.
Alumni College Activity: King’s Gap Scenic Bike Ride
Come out and ride with your Dickinson friends and classmates while taking in the Cumberland Valley scenery in Kings Gap State Park. This 30-mile, 2.5- to 3-hour out-and-back ride starts at the college and follows scenic roads south of Carlisle to Kings Gap State Park. The ride features rolling terrain with a summit climb to the Mansion Overlook, where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding area.
Participants should be experienced riders with group riding skills and should be mindful of local traffic and road conditions. Riders must have the ability to support themselves and their equipment in the event of a mechanical issue.
Participants are responsible for providing their own bicycles and transportation to the starting location at the college. Helmets, bike lights, and high-visibility clothing are strongly recommended. Click here for full route details.

Alumni College Session: Astrochemistry: Exploring Our Chemical Heritage in the Cosmos
In the extremely cold (as cold as -442 degrees Fahrenheit) spaces between stars, the building blocks of planetary systems form from simple chemicals. This talk will explore the evolution of chemistry alongside star and planet formation over billions of years. Recent astrochemistry work at Dickinson will be discussed, including how we can map chemicals in star-forming nebulae with large telescopes and what we are doing to study cosmic ices in the lab.

Alumni College Session: Paths of Purpose: Careers in Public Service
Public service takes many forms, including shaping global policy, strengthening national programs, and driving change in local communities. This panel brings together Dickinson alumni whose careers span the international, national, and local levels of public service. From diplomacy and federal initiatives to state agencies and community-based organizations, these graduates demonstrate how the critical thinking, communication, and interdisciplinary perspective of a liberal-arts education can translate into meaningful impact.
Alumni College Session: Trout Gallery Tour of New Exhibitions With Gallery Director Shannon Egan
Join Shannon Egan, director of The Trout Gallery, for a tour of two brand-new exhibitions. Visitors will have the opportunity to see Recent Acquisitions, a display of exciting additions to the gallery’s permanent collection. Selected works are by American artists and focus on the diversity of American stories. Held in conjunction with commemorations of America’s 250th anniversary, the exhibition titled BRANCH: Trees in American Art tells stories of America through a variety of artworks representing trees.
Behind the Scenes at Dickinson: Majors Deep Dive
Families with students of all ages are invited to Go beyond the classroom and explore Dickinson’s majors from the inside out. This immersive session offers a behind the scenes look at hands-on learning spaces, from labs and archives to other experiential learning environments, where students bring their academic interests to life.

Always a popular event, this onsite luncheon features delicacies from the College Farm and neighboring farms. Wood-fired pizzas and freshly harvested field greens are complemented by handmade dessert, created using renewable energy produced on the farm. Student-led tours will be offered, along with the chance to engage with student and alumni farm staff. Transportation is provided.
